In the Cold War, and the Post-Cold War era the United States intervened in other nations ostensibly to protect that nation's human, sovereign, and economic rights, but after the 9/11 attacks, the United States has changed its foreign policy. George W. Bush has adopted a policy of preemption, asserting that the United States has a right to intervene in a nation if it is necessary for our own protection("Foreign Policy").
